Ghosts of the Ancients

Description

So here we see another depiction of the Warden seen in “Lord of all I See”, this time with it flying above the ruins of an old civilization, located in the Naraka Desert on Kaliharidia. As I've said, the predator spends the daytime hiding among the caves and ancient ruins to escape the heat. At night though, it takes wing and scours the landscape for potential prey, which tends to be almost any animal with the exception of the Epic Glass Runner. It kills its prey by firing out a concussive blast, followed up by evisceration with its claws and teeth. When it comes to mating, the two Wardens will do elaborate flight patterns in order to seem suitable to the other. When both are impressed, they mate and part ways. The impregnated Warden then flies off to a cave to lay its eggs, which then hatch as partially developed young (more than nullamortici, which is one of the many differences between Cerebrodominandi and them). They are known to the Gelkolo as the Woo'sseroptep, which translates to "The ghost of the ancients" due to the fact hat this species spends a large amount of time among ancient derelict civilizations. The ruins of this old civilization tend to be hot spots for sleeping or hiding prey, so the Game Warden who owns this territory traverses through the area very frequently.

Now onto the civilization. This is an example of an ancient Gelkolo civilization, dated around 3,000 years ago. Most archeologist say that the civilization is a branch of the Clavola Empire, which is the only civilization known to have had the technology to settle the Naraka Desert. It is also believed that The Naraka Desert was less arid at this time, potentially because an ancient river crossed through the desert that was fed by glaciers up in the mountains. Judging by evidence of very advanced plumbing, it also seemed that the civilization attempted to sustain the river through the dry season by pumping back the water upriver after it was used. It is presumed that after the Puyi Caldera erupted several thousand miles away, the glaciers that fed the river stopped melting, and the river dried up completely. Judging by written accounts, the civilization was finally disbanded when the Gelkolo began killing each other for the slightest amount of water. There are also oral legends told by nomadic Gelkolo tribes that a massive earthquake (potentially of magnitude 9) shattered the city and diverted the path the river took through the Naraka Desert. If this is accurate, it would help explain why the river no longer flows through the region after the effects of the Puyi Eruption relented.

Great work, although the background seems a little bit bland. What is that symbol above the Warden?
